Summer Nights is our hand-crafted program of theatre, dance and performance which takes place as part of the biggest annual arts festival in Western Australia – FRINGE WORLD. In 2017, the festival will run from 20 January – 19 February.
Summer Nights is an initiative of The Blue Room Theatre that presents high-quality, diverse and contemporary live events. In 2016 we welcomed over 11,000 audience members through our doors, achieved 86% attendance and won our fifth consecutive FRINGE WORLD Best Independent Program award. We were also proud that events presented as part of Summer Nights received nine other FRINGE WORLD awards, including the prestigious Martin Sims Award (The Great Ridolphi), Best Dance (Awkward Con-nections), Best Children’s Event (The Road That Wasn’t There) and the Melbourne Fringe Tour Ready Award (Girl in the Wood).
We are excited to announce that for the first time in 2017 we will be collaborating with State Theatre Centre of Western Australia. For two and a half weeks we will be taking up residence in the beautiful 230-seat Studio Underground to present world-class performances for the audiences of Perth and provide artists access to this wonderful space.
We invite local, national and international artists to fill our venues with work that pushes the envelope and redefines performance. We welcome shows that are experimental, emerging and challenging; as well as shows that are established audience pleasers. The stage is set and we can’t wait for you to show us what you can do with it.

The Blue Room Theatre venues have been operational for 27 years and attract an audience willing to take risks, enjoy diversity of performance and champion innovation. The theatres are upstairs in our heritage venue adjacent to an established bar which opens one hour before the first show and closes late. Drinks are cheap and audiences and artists alike hang around post-show. READ MORE

OUTDOOR EVENTS + AMAZING IDEAS THAT SIMPLY WON’T FIT IN A TRADITIONAL THEATRE: The streets of Perth during FRINGE WORLD are packed with hungry, festival fit audiences, and while most of the Summer Nights action takes place in our performance spaces, we are keen to help you take advantage of the fun festival atmosphere with your very own site-specific performance. We want you to reconsider your relationship with form and audience, and get down and dirty with Perth’s eccentricities. Immerse your work in our building, street, skyline, or neighbourhood; from our doorstep to the dunes, no idea is too big or too small. READ MORE
