There are six positions open for election on the board of Performing Arts Centre Society (trading as The Blue Room Theatre) at the next Annual General Meeting which will be held on the 23 April 2018. The board is made up of six elected positions and up to four co-opted positions. After the elected members are decided, PACS board identifies any skills gaps in the board and co-opts board members to fill those positions. Currently the two co-opted board members are a sustainability expert and a financial expert and two remain vacant.
Being on the board of a not-for-profit organisation can be a great experience; it is a voluntary position that requires generosity of time and skills whilst being a vital part of our team. The PACS board is responsible for driving the strategic direction of the organisation, maintaining excellent financial health, as well as accountability to laws and industry standards.
There are approximately 10 meetings a year of the PACS board and it is made up of artists (both emerging and experienced), arts administrators, and people skilled in human resources, sustainability, fundraising and financial management. We are looking for people who identify as culturally and linguistically diverse or as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Applicants who identify as having a disability are encouraged to apply. PACS board needs a diversity of voices and skills to represent our membership, to help drive an inclusive organisation and to be representative of our culture and identity.
For a member to be eligible for election they must be nominated and seconded by a member of the The Blue Room Theatre (this can be themselves). For the nomination to be accepted you will need to provide a brief biography of your relevant skills that can be included in the official notice of the AGM to all members along with instructions on voting. For ineligibility criteria see below.*
The nomination must be received in writing by close of business on Monday 26 February by email or hard copy addressed to Libby Klysz – Chair of PACS. Please email chair[at]blueroom.org.au or send to PO Box 8369, Perth Business Centre 6849. We encourage you to contact Libby if you have any questions about being on the board as she is more than happy to field enquiries.
