NAME: Andrew David // ROLE: Live Foley Artist // SHOW: Laika: A Staged Radio Play
Which three words best describe your show?
Historical. Technical. Space!
What’s the most rewarding thing about what you do?
Constantly finding creative ways around problems and limitations, and in so doing, honing my craft and skills. Can’t afford the right timber? Chop up that old table! Having trouble making office chair sounds? Use a toy car! Nothing feels better than circumventing an issue you initially thought might be unsolvable.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to get into theatre?
Dabble in as many skill sets as you can. I started as a stage hand; then a musician; a costume, prop, and set designer; a production manager; and now I’m a Foley artist! The more versatile you are, the more avenues will be open to you.
What excites you about 2017?
The Last Jedi is finally here in December!
What would you name a book about your life?
Andrew David: Blood, Guts, and Hitting Things With Sticks
If you had to be an animal for one day, what would you be? Why?
Either an Albatross or a Stingray. Albatross because flying would be cool, Stingray because they get to live pretty chill lives (P.S. I have a degree in marine biology)
