NAME: Shannan Lim // ROLE: Co-Creator // SHOW: Asian Ghost-ery Store
What item can’t you live without in the rehearsal room?
Chocolate or cookies. In the lead-up to a project, I call them ‘stress chocolate’ and ‘stress cookies’.
Do you have any irrational fears?
Birds. A duck chased me down at a park when I was three. And I had a canary that escaped from its cage and never came back. So, many bird-related issues from childhood.
What’s the best performance you’ve ever seen?
One of the things Trygve Wakenshaw made because I have a big performer crush.
What was the first ever performance you were in?
I went to a Catholic boys school in Singapore and we did an aerobic routine up on stage at an assembly. I’m not sure if that was a performance or just exercise.
Why do you do what you do?
I was shy growing up, and I thought if I wrote good stories and did nice drawings that would impress people and they would want to talk to me. Still waiting for that to happen.
What excites you about Perth?
It’s the hometown. Seeing my dad and lounging on the beach with old friends.
What’s your favourite thing about summer?
Colourful board shorts, iced coffee.
What show/s are you looking forward to during Summer Nights or Fringe World?
Experience & The Girl. Most of the other work at The Blue Room Theatre. Everything really. I’m over-stimulated.
Asian Ghost-ery Store is presented by The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights and Only The Human, as part of FRINGE WORLD 2016.
