So, you think you might want to be a producer? The Blue Room Theatre is thrilled to announce a day-long intensive workshop designed to give you the basic knowledge of what it takes to be a theatre producer.
We’ll kick off the day sharing breakfast with some of Perth’s most inspiring project creators, and then move into a day fuelled with practical sessions geared to up-skill those with even the most basic producing knowledge. We’ll look at the building blocks of producing from choosing the right venue, casting, marketing and administration to design, ticketing and the future life of the work.
The Blue Room Theatre has been host to independent theatre for 25 years and we are keen to share some of the lessons our producers have learned the hard way (so you don’t have to). The plan is to rear a new wave of keen, organised and passionate performing arts lovers into a highly capable outfit of planners, creators and problem-solvers ready to tackle the world of production.
This workshop is for people who might still be studying, are just out of school or even artists or organisers whose interest we’ve piqued. The day will be interactive, including engaged discussion to help you walk away with a clear vision and practical steps for producing independent live performance.
Cost – Free for BRT Members/ $10 for non-members
