What is a machine? Is it possible to make a machine with words, phrases and sentences? Is it possible to run this machine by anyone, a random actor or their audience members? Can an ‘unfictionalized’ actor successfully subvert the fictionalizing power of a theatrical event? And if, the frame is subverted in this way, is it still theatre? Or has the whole event evaporated back into life? Or maybe something else? A theatrical machine.
