Jane’s father went missing a year ago.
She went to find him but only found a manuscript left in the wardrobe of his hotel room. Jane is convinced there are clues to her dad’s whereabouts hidden in the pages somewhere.
A year later, still with no answers, Jane’s sister asks her to help her prepare for her second wedding. She needs a whole lot of pigeons for an elaborate “new” way of getting married that she’s going to try. Jane agrees but worries that it will distract her from her reading and deciphering.
After a pigeon-handling disaster, Jane is forced back into the real world, away from the manuscript, to get more. Armed with only a pool scooper, she roams the streets of Perth, from Nedlands to a strip club in Northbridge, intent on making sense of her father’s world, and catching some birds.
My Father’s World is a comedic and fantastical monologue created by Michael Collins, with directorial assistance from Humphrey Bower, featuring Violette Ayad.
