“My mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars…”
Following their sell-out season of All’s Well That Ends Well at Fringe World 2012, North Sea Boat Terminals presents another ‘twist on a classic’.
Weaving between ancient and modern, this fresh take on Romeo and Juliet approaches Shakespeare with a healthy dash of humour. Jackets come to life, puppets are poetic and violent, and anachronisms abound as four actors adeptly unravel the classic for a contemporary audience.
More than just the story of love-struck, star-cross’d teenagers, at the centre of this vibrant production is the question we are afraid to ask ourselves… Am I really the master of my fate? The lovers ponder their future as they are manipulated – literally at times – by their family, friends and the expectations of an entire town.
A bittersweet and humorous production for the reluctant Shakespearean.
