How do you write about your own life? What are the barriers to that, particularly for women? How do you approach yourself as a character?
How do you tackle a ‘social issue’ without making it a lecture?
From an actor’s perspective, how do you perform another person’s autobiographical story? How do you make a one-person show into a dialogue with your audience?
Writer Emily Steel and performer Tiffany Lyndall Knight will look at questions like these, talk about the development of their award-winning and conversation-starting show 19 weeks, and lead workshop participants through practical exercises for writing about their own experiences and performing other people’s real-life stories.
The workshop is suitable for emerging to mid-career artists.
Includes one ticket to 19 weeks, Tuesday 30 January – Thursday 1 February, or Tuesday 6 February – Wednesday 7 February 2018, unless otherwise sold out. This will be arranged following booking and full payment.
Date: 10am – 1pm, Thursday 8 February
Price: $60 TBRT members / $70 non-members
