PERFORMER: OFA FOTU // SHOW: BLANK // DATE: SATURDAY 21 JANUARY 2017 // TIME: 6PM // VENUE: STUDIO UNDERGROUND, STATE THEATRE CENTRE
Better known to most as Odette Mercy, front woman of Perth’s freshest soul/funk act Odette Mercy & Her Soul Atomics, Ofa Fotu is a unique artist who regularly brings the house down with her funky soul sounds.
Part of The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights program at FRINGE WORLD 2017, BLANK will see Ofa handed a script riddled with blanks for the first time as she walks on stage. The play becomes a story machine, sharing the life of the playwright, the performer and a randomly selected audience member.
To prepare Ofa for the night, we asked her to fill in the blanks below…
Hi, my name is Ofa Fotu and I am performing in a production called BLANK by Nassim Soleimanpour.
You can catch me at Studio Underground on Saturday 21 January at 6pm.
I am drawn to watching performances or works of art that make people stop, if even for 45 minutes.
My biggest fear about performing in BLANK is what to do in the BLANKS.
But I’m excited for the experience as a whole.
The closest thing I have ever done to BLANK is nothing. I have nothing to compare something I have no idea about.
You can purchase tickets to see Ofa’s performance HERE.
