Little Y Workshops – April

Little y Theatre Workshops run for three hours every Monday with a variety of skilled artists who have previously included Emily McLean, Jeffery Jay Fowler, Sally Richardson, Humphrey Bower and many more. The first workshop in April will focus on producing independent theatre, and the following three workshops will look at contemporary Australian plays. Please see below for further details.

As a result of past classes, shows have been devised, networks have been extended, actors have been cast and skills have been sharpened.

The sessions run on a drop-in system, so you only need to come when you can.

When: Mondays 6:30pm-9:30pm
Where: The Blue Room Theatre

For further information about the Little y Theatre Workshops, please contact Georgia.

** You must be a member of The Blue Room Theatre to attend.

Monday 11, 18 & 25 April

The remaining April workshops will see Lisa Louttit lead a scene study from Australian contemporary plays. Performers will focus on the art of listening on stage and the practice of following impulse to allow organic responses. Actors will discover what Meisner has called ‘living truthfully and being fully available’ in the scene’s dialogue and characters’ interaction.

About Lisa Louttit
Lisa Louttit has recently settled down in Perth and is grateful for it. In her previous home of New York, she performed with Roundabout Theater Company, BRIC studios at BAM, Three Legged Dog, Partial Comfort, New York Classical Theater, and at the Paradise Factory, the Flea Theater, Exit Art, Soho Rep., HERE, and The People’s Improv Theater. She has worked as Assistant Director for The Actor’s Company Theater (TACT) and directed a production of Jason Grote’s Kawaisoo. Her solo work has been produced in New York, Los Angeles, and in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Monday 4 April 2016

Led by The Blue Room Theatre’s Executive Director Kerry O’Sullivan and Associate Producer Jenna Mathie, the first workshop in April will be dedicated to discussing the ins and outs of producing independent theatre in Perth. This is your opportunity to hear from the team at The Blue Room Theatre, pick their brains about what the next best step for your project might be, or learn more about what it means to be a Producer.
