Tarryn Runkel – Back to the Body
In October, Tarryn Runkel will present a Back to the Body workshop.
Back to the Body is a physical exploration in body awareness, physicality and arriving in the space with authenticity and purpose. Starting from the very beginning we will develop a sense of the body’s parts, using the language of imagination and imagery as it speaks to muscles, movement, and sensation.
The workshops will be divided into two sections:
– The first section with commence with yoga, breath and the relationship between the two. We will then progress onto a contemporary class structure (don’t freak out). This will be heavily scaffolded and aims at finding your personal passion to move as well as enjoyment within it. It will be light-hearted and fun.
– The second part of the workshop will be different every week but may include;physical improvisation into character experiencing different qualities of movement, expressing emotion abstractly through the body, animal work for exploring a prepared character, and working physically with a text of your choice. Tarryn is also open to ideas and requests. The classes are fluid for everybody at every level.
Come with an open mind and an open body will follow.
