The Yonder – Deep trouble, deep space.
13 – 17 Feb, 2018
Sci-fi comedy from two-time Melbourne Fringe award winners and FRINGE WORLD award finalists.
Name? Ezel Doruk & Shannan Lim // Role? Creators // Show? The Yonder
How would you describe your show to your grandma?
Ezel: It’s me, your grandson Ezel. I miss you so much. Please come back to life!
Shannan: The Yonder is a schlocky sci-fi film or TV series, but on stage. It may contain space squid, romance and excellent dancing. Think you’d dig it, Gran.
Favourite thing about Summer in Perth?
Ezel: All the miners are primed from their time underground and ready to play.
Shannan: Is that what you imagine Perth is like? Jumping into the ocean on a really hot afternoon! Ez, you can ask one of those miners of yours for a lift.
What do you want audiences to take away from your show?
Ezel: I want them to die from laughter so hopefully they never leave their seats.
Shannan: Lucky we got insurance then. Yeah, I just want them to have a good time and come on a mad trip through space with us.
What’s your favourite banger (song) to party down to this Summer?
Ezel: The music of our composer Alan Erpi.
Shannan: One character walks on to ‘Coconut Woman’ by Harry Belafonte, so I suspect that will be wedged into our brains this summer.
Ezel: “Coco got a lot of iron.”
Shannan: “Make you strong like a lion!”
