Presented by Hey! Precious
Unrule is an attempt to tease open the complicated relationships that we have with feminine bodies. Taboos will be smashed open, horror stories shared, and fears brought to life in their most grotesque, glorious forms.
Bringing together community stories and testimonies with rigorously constructed theatre, the work aims to take on and take down the narrative of pathologisation and mistrust of women’s bodies and sexualities.
A part of the development of Unrule, Michelle and collaborators are holding a community day afternoon tea at The Blue Room Theatre for women of all ages. There will be fun games, and they’re going to chat (as casually as you like!) about the horrors; small and large, from periods to pregnancy, that come with feminine bodies, and in particular how we may have been treated by medical practitioners. So bring your mum (seriously, they’d love to hear from your mum) and join in for an afternoon of craft, biscuits, bonding, and research for theatre making. If you’d like to participate in the community afternoon tea, please fill out the form below.

Winter Nights is a cauldron for theatre making, a mid-year meeting point of theatre making and ideas about construction and deconstruction, politics and activism, gender and sexuality, inspiration and disenchantment, war, peace, camaraderie, loneliness, joy; whatever is timely for artists and audiences to share.
This development is made possible with support from the Minderoo Foundation.
