The Blue Room Theatre will be taking one final round of applications for the LOFT program in September this year, for projects to be delivered in 2019.
There will be $65,291 available to projects meeting the purpose and guidelines of LOFT, to be selected by a panel of industry peers. The closing date for applications will be Wednesday 26 September 2018, 5pm AWST with notifications to be made by 31 October.
For more information on LOFT, eligibility and how to apply, head to the main loft page here.
Based on feedback from previous rounds, panels urge applicants in this round to focus on demonstrating how the proposed project:
– furthers their practice – articulating how the project extends or challenges the work of the artist or team;
– is ambitious in respect of their scope, process, form or professional development;
– leverages the support of other presenting or supporting partners in a meaningful way.
Please feel free to call us to discuss your application and whether we can broker contact with a suitable potential presenting or supporting partner for your proposed project.
LOFT was established with support from the Western Australian Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in 2015 to deliver financial support for ambitious theatre projects by independent artists outside the walls of The Blue Room Theatre.
Most recently, in the sixth round of LOFT, $26,500 was granted to the creative development of CATCH!, a new circus, physical theatre and puppetry work by Maxima Circus in partnership with Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. The Blue Room Theatre would like to extend our thanks to peer assessors who sat on this panel for their time and effort: Shane Colquhoun (Arts Consultant), Jeffrey Jay Fowler (Core Artist, The Last Great Hunt) and Amber Hasler (Festival Director, FRINGE WORLD).
