Breathtakingly nuanced and subtle... joyously reckless
“I could crack open the footpath. Shake the houses until bookcases topple over. And everything fragile is broken.”
Sam’s in her last year of high school, and her dad’s just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. ‘Too much wanking!’ her mum jokes, but no one laughs. No one’s coping – least of all Sam. Not that anyone is noticing. It isn’t until she ends up in Mr David’s office that she feels she can finally open up.
Awarded ★★★★★ in its 2024 debut at the Old Fitz Theatre, this is a raw, confronting new Australian play about family, adolescence and the abuse of power. Starring Clare Hughes (ABC’s Ladies In Black, currently starring opposite Susan Sarandon on the West End) and directed by Lucy Clements, this fierce solo performance champions the strength, resilience and courage of young women.
