Help Us Train the Next Generation of Techs in 2024
This end of financial year, we are asking for your support again, to support our 2024 Tech Training Program, addressing a critical skills shortage in the arts and entertainment industry. The Blue Room Theatre has a long history of developing WA artists, with the actors and creatives taking centre stage – a stage mic’d and lit by our techs, who we need more of.
Live Performance Australia (LPA) is the peak body for Australia’s live arts and entertainment industry, they regularly speak to and update the sector on trends, laws, policies and resources. Read their LPA 2024 Skills Priority List here.
Your support will enable us to develop and deliver training to emerging backstage crew, people looking to start a career in the roles the sector desperately needs more of. Any donation, large or small, will support the development of backstage crew; Stage Manager, Lighting and Sound technicians, Productions Manager, and the many other roles that help bring Productions to life.
To celebrate our 35th anniversary, we are increasing our fundraising target to $35,000.

Last year’s Equity & Justice Program
Last year, our donors raised an amazing $31,150 to help support our Equity & Justice Program, allowing us to pilot new opportunities for people from underrepresented groups to engage as artists and participants with The Blue Room Theatre.
These funds supported the development and delivery of 3 new initiatives, a First Nations Residency program, and youth focused programs Backstage Pass & the Young Makers. The First Nations Residency program supported to projects given in-kind rehearsal space to develop a project, and present a outcome to public. The 2 youth programs focused on inviting and supporting young artists to learn about The Blue Room Theatre by attending shows and participating in workshops with creatives.
