A movement-led writing workshop for artists and thinkers

A movement and writing workshop for creatives

Move Beyond the Mind is a playful, process-led workshop that blends movement and writing to gently shift you out of your head and back into the body as a creative resource.

Through guided movement, writing prompts, ensemble play, and collective arrival, participants are invited into an intimate and supportive space where ideas emerge through curiosity, connection, and shared presence. Working alongside others becomes part of the creative engine, opening new ways of thinking, making, and articulating ideas.

Designed for artists across disciplines and creatives of all kinds, this workshop offers a low-pressure, fun environment to reconnect with creativity beyond the intellect. No previous movement or writing experience is required, just a willingness to show up and play.

About the facilitator: Nadia Milford is a dancer, filmmaker, and theatre-maker whose multidisciplinary practice spans movement, writing, and embodied storytelling. With movement as the genesis of her creativity, Nadia’s work connects at sensory touchpoints, using the intrinsic language of the body to open new perspectives.

She has performed nationally and internationally, most recently touring with Phluxus2 Dance Collective’s Angel Monster to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Brisbane Festival, Cairns Festival, and Theatreworks Melbourne, and is a core member of VOiiid Collective, performing at Melt Festival, Brisbane Festival, Horizon Festival, and Woodford Folk Festival.

As a maker, Nadia’s work spans live performance, screen and installation to open spaces of reflection and re-imagine the stories we carry. Her one-woman show, The Last Princess of Lebanon, weaves dance, text, and design to explore her Lebanese family history. Its accompanying short documentary A Delicate Hope, was shortlisted for the Khallyrah Prize (North Carolina State University). She is currently collaborating with Indian artist Diya Naidu on The Ocean Between Us, a cross-cultural movement-theatre project spanning cultures, spaces and time.

An experienced facilitator and yoga teacher, Nadia draws on her multidisciplinary practice to create playful, accessible, and supportive spaces where participants are invited to explore, experiment, and connect – moving through the world with the empathy of embodied understandings.
