Step inside a building that has lived many lives. Built in 1905, our home at TBRT has been a constant presence in Perth’s cultural and educational landscape for more than a century. Once the senior school building of Perth Central School, it later transformed into the science laboratories that shaped generations of students from the 1950s through the 1980s.
As Perth evolved, so did this space. It became part of Perth Technical College (TAFE) and later welcomed a vibrant community of creatives and thinkers. Over the years, the building has been shared with KAOS Theatre, the Australian Society of Writers, the Photography Gallery of WA, and Propel Youth Arts WA — each leaving their mark and adding new layers to its story.
This event invites you to wander through that history, discover the traces of its past lives, and celebrate the artists, educators, and communities who have shaped the building into the creative hub it is today. Join us for an afternoon of stories, connection, and reflection as we honour more than a century of learning, imagination, and cultural legacy within these walls.
This project aims to showcase the hidden stories and contributions by the many multicultural communities that have called Boorloo home for generations.
