18 JUL 2026

  • SAT 18 JUL

    2pm - 4pm

Not just women’s business. Everybody’s business

A Rehearsed Reading*, supported through The Blue Room Theatre’s Development Incubator. “Business” was originally created as part of Yirra Yaakin Theatre’s writers’ group and is being developed into a longer work through The Blue Room Theatre’s Development Incubator.

Businesswoman of the year is successful in her work but is personally struggling with a health issue. Her fear paralyses her. Her brother kept at arm’s length; her mother sidelined. What stops us from accessing services and support? Intergenerational avoidance, busy-ness, fear, past trauma with systems? How do we name and face our death anxiety? Did you book your screening or not?

After the reading, join us for a cuppa, snack and chat. Grab some info about services and support available. Staff from Cancer Council WA and other support services will be present. Free parking is available at the Hamilton Hill Memorial Hall.

Ticket pricing
All funds raised will go to Cancer Council WA who provide free support services for those affected by cancer and their families. If you are able to pay for your ticket, please pay the amount your choose. If you are unable to pay, please book a ticket and come along and be part of this community event!

*Rehearsed Reading is when professional actors sit on stage and read the script in front of a live audience, bringing the script to life. Please note this is not a full-scale production.
