Old art = dead art? No way!
This workshop will deal with methods and procedures for generating new work out of old art. Through a combination of writing, adaptation and devising techniques, the workshop will impart some useful ways to invigorate and resurrect the classics for today.
The Bloomshed’s work blends familiar disciplines and practices. Combining Brecht with the high-octane nonsense of the Dada Movement, we make agit-prop theatre for a post-Truth world. This workshop will be divided into three parts. First, we’ll pull apart a classic text, discussing its relevant components, its dramaturgical ‘spine’ and its contemporary relevance. Secondly, we’ll demonstrate out how to generate new content out the components of the old. Then we’ll show some techniques for bringing it to life.
Cost of workshop includes one ticket to The Nose, Tuesday 11 Feb – Saturday 15 Feb, unless otherwise sold out. This will be arranged following booking and full payment.
