Sixteen sunrises in twenty-four hours
An Astronaut orbits Earth in the International Space Station. They see the sun rise and fall sixteen times in twenty-four hours. Eight billion lives and lifetimes burn bright across a day coiling in upon itself. Empires are born and they die. Deep-faked snails procreate across rusted Starlink satellites. You check your phone and a girls’ elementary school is bombed. Flowers bloom from the back of an abandoned ute. The body turns to compost and is re-animated by worms. The oceans reclaim the cliffs.
Riot! Spread love. Donate. Stockpile. Language falters us but this might be the last time we can safely say. From the river to the sea. Physical and digital refuse from times known and unknown fill the cockpit as the Astronaut, increasingly unable to separate themselves from the cycle of rebirth, are devoured by their own story.
What’s real is I’m in front of you.
Here, we’ll make an argument for hope.
