Terri-ann White is delighted to present a writing workshop for dancers and theatre artists who could use a hand or a testing ground for all of those word-based tasks: program notes, press releases, grant applications, descriptions of what is in their head and body but has not necessarily been articulated with words. Please bring an example from previous work, or a draft version of current work, so we can have a starting point and play with options.

About the workshop leader:
“All of my working life has been involved with writing and ideas, and books: as an independent bookseller, writer, editor, festival organizer, and founding director of a university centre for ideas. My passionate interest is in expression that makes a difference”.

Terri-ann White was Director and Publisher at UWA Publishing from 2006 until June 2020 and in that time published around 450 books: fiction, poetry, narrative non-fiction, scholarly, and art and natural science monographs. Prior to this, she founded and directed a cross-disciplinary research centre at UWA, taught literature and writing in universities, was a bookseller for 16 years, and organised ‘ideas’ festivals. Terri-ann is also a writer of fiction and non-fiction, and a serious enthusiast of dance and music and visual arts, as well as literature that extends boundaries of how stories are told and language is worked. Terri-ann now runs small publishing outlet Upswell – https://upswellpublishing.com/

In 2024, STRUT Dance and The Blue Room Theatre introduce a series of eight Production Skills workshops.

The workshops are practice-based sessions aimed to assist independent makers in all the things they are required to do in and around their productions but might not have had the training to do so.

Each workshop will focus on a different element of production including sound, finance, writing, cultural awareness, lighting, and dramaturgy.
