A post-punk, post-natal, descent story

The Dirty Mother is part of the Winter Nights ‘Ground Up’ program in which works are presented as creative developments, exploring their material and making their work over three intermittent nights during the festival in response to audience responses and feedback.

Pregnant Clown descends to a post-natal underworld. Her baby is born not breathing. Emergency punk ritual, D.I.Y birth rite – this is the story you’re not supposed to tell. The Dirty Mother is a high energy clown comedy, where a real woman tells her real story of loss and reinvention in the nappy shit of life.

The Dirty Mother will host a free open rehearsal from 11am to 1pm on Thursday 1 August. This is an opportunity for mothers to attend (with or without their children), to observe and share their experiences and to contribute to a writing a scene in the performance called How To Silence A Woman. For more information or to RSVP to the open rehearsal, please contact Michelle Hall here.
