Queer pride parade meets audio history tour
The Lion Never Sleeps is a walking performance through the streets of Northbridge. Equipped with a listening device and headphones, three performers and an audience of 20 navigate, meander and move through spaces and places where the queer community gathered, danced, made community and fought during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s.
This project was originally developed as part of the Still Here LGBTQIA+ Artists Lab at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, through Propel Youth Arts/Kickstart Festival and Perth Festival.
This performance involves walking slowly for approximately 70 minutes over different kinds of surfaces including concrete and grass. There are several areas where people can sit, stop and rest. Unfortunately at this stage of the development, this performance is not wheelchair accessible. There is an audio track available for pre-download and access to a written transcript on request. If you have accessibility requirements please contact The Blue Room Theatre.
