Meet the Next Wave of Makers

Devised and performed by 3rd Year BPA Performance Making students

Get ready to be inspired, provoked and entertained as WAAPA’s graduating performance makers hit the stage at full tilt, showcasing their creative talents over two weeks in September. This is theatre at its most eclectic, with powerful performances and inventive stagecraft underpinning highly original works that explore the very fringes of theatre making.

WAAPA is thrilled to be presenting TILT at The Blue Room Theatre in 2026. Check out the line-up of works in each program below.

Program A – Wed 2 Sept – Sat 5 Sept

Contains coarse language, explicit sexual references; themes including mortality, death, mental health, misogyny, sexual harassment, intergenerational trauma, surgery and body modification; depiction of violence, blood, drowning; use of rapid projection, imagery of blood and dissection, strobe, and loud sounds.

Contains coarse, and misogynistic language; sexual references; themes including religion, queer, body image, sexual assault, drug and alcohol use; depictions of violence and blood; use of low lighting and darkness, projection, shadow work, graphic gore, and sudden sounds.

ACCESS AT TILT

Every performance of Program A and Program B is audio described. The Blue Room Theatre is wheelchair accessible, and Companion Card holders can request a complimentary second ticket.

TILT Access Guide

Our online access guide describes what to expect, and it is worth reading before you book.

It covers what the performance space looks like from the door and from a seat; what happens during the performance, including whether you can leave and come back; and what happens in each of the ten works, with content and sensory information for every piece, including flashing light, haze, loud sound, darkness and whether performers come near the audience. It describes what happens in the shows, including how they end, so it contains spoilers. A guide like this is sometimes called a social story.

Audio description

A describer gives a live spoken commentary of what is happening on stage. You listen through a small wireless receiver, collected from the box office when you arrive, at no extra cost. Add a note to your booking or ask at the box office on the night. You do not need to book ahead, and you do not need to choose a particular performance.

You can use our headphones, an earbud, or the neck loop if you use a hearing aid with a T setting. The receivers take any standard headphone plug, so bring your own if you would be more comfortable using them.

Tactile tours

Tactile tours run before the performance and can be requested for any performance. To book one, email j.neideck@ecu.edu.au at least 24 hours before the performance you are attending.
