Tomorrow is still ours

The future is burning, and a group of young people are trying to work out what comes next.

Caught between climate grief, anger and the pressure to keep going, they turn to each other. Through protest, memory, chants, stories and spoken word, despair becomes something they can hold together, and something they can resist.

we are blooming is a poetic exploration of what it means to grow up with an uncertain future. Moving between rage and tenderness, it finds hope not by looking away from devastation, but through collective action, creativity, and care.

A love letter to young people fighting for what comes next, and to everything that can still bloom after the damage is done.

Written by award-winning multidisciplinary artist and creative producer Mohammed ‘Ayo Busari’.

Originally developed as part of WAYTCo’s 24 Hour Generator (2025), we are blooming was further developed through Blue Joy Theatre Company’s inaugural Echoes in Draft program (2025) and Australian Plays Transform’s Words in Motion program (2025).
