MICROMOVE

We are seeking applications from dance artists and choreographers interested in creating a new piece of performance between 5 and 30 minutes long for presentation as part of MicroMove during Summer Nights 2018.

MicroMove cedes the floor to movement, offers space to recreate and people to transform. It takes flight from a dance that is curious about journeying. Tethered in one world and reaching for another, travelling towards and away simultaneously. It connects through shared experience and memory.

A platform to present rigourous, innovative and dynamic dance works, MicroMove provides skills development and performance opportunities for West Australian dance artists and choreographers at all stages of their career.

The 2018 season will be curated by Shona Erskine, who will also provide mentorship for selected artists if requested.

Works selected will be programmed between two and five nights of performance as part of the season, which will run 20 – 24 February 2018.

Through the presentation of a curated dance development and performance program, The Blue Room Theatre is aiming to provide opportunities to a broad range of dance artists while developing audiences in the FRINGE WORLD environment.

“It provided an independent artist like me exposure, practice, and a way to network. It was priceless to be able to have all of the production costs covered by The Blue Room Theatre, allowing us to just create!” Camille Spencer – Development Program Artist 2017
