Utopia contains stylised violence, and adult concepts including war, terrorism and family loss.
The violence in the performance is non-naturalistic. Death occurs throughout it but there are no guns or blood. There is a scene involving a young girl being beaten by another actor, which is theatrical but could be challenging for some audience members.
The performance is lit with torchlight from the audience, and it flicks through moments of intensity.
The creative team would like to communicate that while the subject matter is heavy, they have found it easy to deal with because of the style.
The Blue Room Theatre and the creative team will be providing resources at the venue from AsETTs (Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors) in case people attending the performance from a refugee background with lived experience would like more information about their services.
