Girls facing the manosphere.
Dancing, sleepovers, boys, and red frogs. Three young girls are on the verge of adulthood. FEMOID. is a critical feminist piece, examining the dark prevalence of misogyny in a day-to-day context and the terrifying future of its technological influence. The show follows the typical life of three teenage girls – cheeky, playful, and initially unaware of the more ‘insignificant’ acts of misogyny in their lives. Gradually, as they grow up, their world becomes more dangerous and threatening as they begin to be aware of their position and vulnerability as women. Yet, FEMOID. examines how love prevails through oppression and how key relationships hold us together. Using verbatim from online incel forum boards, FEMOID. asks: “What are people willing to say when they think society can’t see them?”
