Tear it all down.
It’s 1892, the sun has set, a candle is lit and a young mother is secretly writing about her life. Away from the prying eyes of a controlling husband and surrounded by the most horrific wallpaper imaginable, she descends into a deep, mind-bending, depression.
PAWA and Blue Room Award winning director Yvan Karlsson (Hell Is Other People) is back with Monkey Brain’s latest offering, WALLPAPER. A one-woman tour de force performed by the extraordinary Clea Purkis (Everything Flickers).
Adapted from the iconic 100 year old feminist story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, this version will bump the past right up against the future, providing a haunting reflection on how some things never change…
The writings on the wall, do you dare to read it?
