Here’s everything you need to know to make the most out of your visit to The Blue Room Theatre, and you can check out specific information about our COVID-19 Safety Plan here. We look forward to welcoming you.

Finding Us
Find us at 53 James St, Northbridge in the Perth Cultural Centre.
We’re tucked away behind the State Theatre Centre of WA and right beside PICA and Pretzel (pink shipping container).

Parking
We’ve got two convenient City of Perth parking lots nearby:
CPP State Library – 15 Francis St
CPP Cultural Centre – 2 Roe St
On weekends, you can get 3-hours parking for free in CPP parking lots.

Public Transport
We’re a 5 minute walk from the Perth Train Station and Yagan Square Busport, and a 2 minute walk to Beaufort St where a variety of busses stop outside the WA Museum and the Court Hotel. Plan your journey to us through the Transperth website to make sure you’ve got plenty of time for a cold drink and a toasted sandwich.

Bikes
Unfortunately, the Perth Cultural Centre doesn’t have any locked bike shelters but you can chain up your bike outside on the bike rack near Pretzel. However, this is at your own risk.

Coming to the theatre can be an exciting, new, and even overwhelming experience for people. To prepare yourself for your visit, here’s how most nights at The Blue Room Theatre run:

Additional Content Information
We work with shows that contain heavier content on providing additional information so that audience members can make an informed choice about what they are ready to watch. You can access this information here.

Lockouts
Most of our shows have a strict lockout once they begin so if you’re late you won’t be permitted entry. This also applies if you leave during the show to use the bathroom or go to the bar. If you’re worried about arriving late and being locked out, give our Box Office a call and let our staff know. We do not offer refunds or exchanges for customers who are locked out of a show.

Check in at the Box Office
Whether you’ve purchased tickets online or have wandered in to buy them on a whim, you’ll need to visit our Box Office. It’s directly in front as you enter through the glass doors – join the queue and our friendly staff will see you soon. Please see additional COVID-19 check-in information above.

Digital tickets
We will no longer be using the slap-band ticketing system at The Blue Room Theatre.
Instead we will be scanning you in via the QR Code Tickets that are embedded in a link on your booking confirmation.
You will be required to present those to our ushering staff as you enter the theatre.
Make sure you have quick access to these on the night of performance either through your booking confirmation, via screenshot, or printed out.
If you have purchased multiple tickets, you will need the QR Code for each specific performance.
If you need these to be re-sent to you, please contact the Box Office.

Bathrooms & Facilities
On the ground floor you can find our bathrooms. It’s best to use these before the show goes in as we do not readmit if you leave during a performance.

Our facilities include:
1x bathroom with 3x stalls, 2x sinks and 2x sanitary disposal units.
1x bathroom with 1x stall, 1x urinal and 2x sinks.
1x Accessibility bathroom with 1x toilet and 1x sink.

At The Blue Room Theatre, we want all people to feel welcome to choose the facilities that they are comfortable with. So in April this year, we will be removing all gender binary signage from our toilets. Operating in a Government-owned heritage building has limitations. Although we do not have the power to physically change the layout of the toilets to be more accessible for everyone, we do have the power to improve our signage and ensure everyone feels safe and welcome at our venue.

When you’re at the venue next, you’ll see our first step towards this change – better descriptions on each bathroom door to help you make a choice of what bathroom you’d like to use. Then our final step will be in April, and we’ll remove the gender binary signage while leaving the descriptions of the facilities inside.

Thank you for your support and helping make The Blue Room Theatre more inclusive and accessible!

Head upstairs to the bar and performance spaces
Once you’re checked in, head up the stairs to find our bar and balcony area. The doors to the show don’t open until just before the start time, so you’ve got plenty of time to relax, grab a drink, eat a toastie, and read the program.

5 minute call
5 minutes before the show begins, our ushers will ring the bells to let you know to use the bathrooms, grab another drink (they can be taken in to the show with you!), and turn off your mobile phones.

Time to take your seat
Before we open doors and start the show, the usher will ring the bell once more and make an announcement. Form an orderly line and show your tickets to the usher.

It’s general allocation in the auditorium (which means you can sit in whichever seat you want) so line up early if you have a favourite spot.

From there, we leave you in the hands of our artists! But don’t worry, the bar is open after the show too.

Our menu
We’ve got a limited menu of snacks including our Perth-famous toasted sandwiches (ham and cheese, vegetarian, and vegan options available).

Our neighbours
Based in the heart of Northbridge, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to dining. Here are some of our favourites:

Bivouac
A staple of the Northbridge scene, The Biv offers fine Eastern-inspired food and drinks – just around the corner from The Blue Room.

The Rechabite
Recently re-opened as a hot live performance venue, it also comes equipped with a huge restaurant downstairs: Double Rainbow.

Old Shanghai
A range of options from Singaporean noodles to American-style burgers, it won’t break the bank either.

Francoforte
Spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti! Generous servings of tons of exciting pasta dishes and a small menu of wines.

Sauma
A huge menu of mouth-watering Indian cuisine, 30 seconds away on the corner of William and James.

Chicho
Their gelato is the perfect after-show treat while you wander through Yagan Square or the Cultural Centre.

Pretzel
Sometimes all you want is bread, butter, and salt.

Dinner: before or after the show?
With our lockout rules, it’s best to leave a good hour and half for dinner if you’re making a reservation before your show.

Wheelchairs
We welcome all patrons of all access requirements into our venue. We have more information about Accessibility here.

Leave us a note when booking or call our Box Office on (08) 9227 7005 to discuss how we can help you.
