Today, The Blue Room Theatre sends our heartfelt congratulations to both our Program Manager Harriet Roberts and Program Coordinator Melanie Julien-Martial, as they both take up positions at new arts organisations and continue to build their careers as future arts managers and leaders.

After over five years working at The Blue Room Theatre in three roles (Associate Producer, Producer and Program Manager) Harriet will be taking up a contract with Perth Festival as Associate Producer (Performance). And we are thrilled for the independent arts sector to announce that after two years in our Associate Producer / Program Coordinator role, Melanie will take up the new Associate Producer position at Performing Lines WA.

Both will be departing The Blue Room Theatre in July to take up these new opportunities.

Harriet and Mel have been exceptional mentors and advocates to all Blue Room Theatre artistic teams over their respective tenures. Most recently, they steered our program through the tumultuous pandemic uncertainty and changes in our operational funding circumstances. This included delivering a completely re-envisioned remote and digital Winter Nights festival, supporting artists through heartbreaking and stressful season postponements and cancellations, creating more professional development opportunities than we have ever offered in one year, and delivering a radical promenade performance in collaboration with Perth Festival (just to name a few achievements of the last twelve months).

It has been a huge challenge and they have both approached their roles during this time with openness, skill, compassion and humour. We are so proud of both of them. We are sad to see them go but are so excited for the next steps in their professional journeys.

APPLY NOW!

With sad goodbyes, also comes new opportunities for us to welcome new members to The Blue Room Theatre staff team.

We are now recruiting for a new Program Coordinator (a role for an emerging and developing arts worker, that will prioritise First Nations and culturally and Linguistically Diverse people in the recruitment process) and Program Manager (a key leadership position) to join our team and continue the strengthening of our artist development and performance programs.

Applications for both roles are due on Tuesday 29th June at 12pm.
